I've read about the concept of "slow food": bringing back food that is closer to nature and more "whole"; but I think this idea can also translate over to our personal lives as well. If we SLOW DOWN everywhere.
Put down the smartphone.
As I type this on my Android something-or-other, my thumb is sore and cramping from my constant checking, texting, reading.
Now, I've validated this to myself by saying, "but I'm nursing, holding a sleeping baby" etc, but I've not always used that time wisely. So many distractions - Facebook, Pinterest...
Could it be that I could give some of this up and go back to slow communication? Learn how it was "back in the day" when there weren't even phones to communicate with? I know - *gasp*...
Of course, I'm hypocritical right now because here I sit, nursing my baby and writing this. But the idea here is that I can work towards all of my goals for "self actualization" (insert princess diaries quote). I'm not perfect, so this will be a process, it won't start out pretty.
Can I write/send one note, letter, postcard, parcel for every day of the year?
Can I battle against my own downfall of procrastination, busy-ness, and laziness?
